The Piccadilly Hunt 75th Anniversary Hound Show
Last Sunday we took hounds to The Piccadilly Hunt 75th Anniversary Hound Show. The Piccadilly Hunt was formed in 1949, when the Labour Government introduced a Private Members Bill to outlaw Coursing & Stag Hunting. A band of hunting farmers hatched a plan to ride around London, to demonstrate the passion that the farming community had for country sports. This ride became known as ‘The Farmers Protest’, the Bill was overturned & the Piccadilly Hunt was formed. All of the funds that they have raised over the past 75 years have been donated to country sports.
All hunts that had a member of the original Piccadilly Hunt Ride, were invited to bring hounds to compete at the 75th Anniversary Show.
The VWH had a wonderful day, winning 3 of the 4 classes & taking both of the Championships. Other packs showing included the Heythrop, Cotswold, North Cotswold & Worcestershire, in total 8 packs were present. All entries had to be from the 2023 entry.
